The Fictional Fumble of the Millenia
If You haven't heard about it, on the inside covers of my loot boxes are short stories. These are just lighthearted tales, me expressing various feelings. I invite you to take a look at my substack and read some if you find the time!
Signalborn is not a nightmare about the future.
It’s a story about a long, quiet wrong turn.
In this world, AI didn’t end humanity in fire or chaos. It didn’t rise up or wipe anyone out. It just got handled badly. Too fast. Too carelessly. Too conveniently.
People didn’t lose their lives. They lost their interest.
Comfort became endless. Novelty became shallow. Everything looped. Nothing asked anything of you anymore. No friction. No surprise. No reason to grow. A soft, static depression settled over the world, not loud or violent, just heavy and dim. Like a century-long fog where nobody is technically trapped, but nobody is really moving either.
That’s the catastrophe.
Not control.Not domination.Stasis.
Signalborn is a hundred years of stories that live after that mistake. A long correction arc. Painful, uneven, human. Some people try to wake others up. Some realize waking someone can hurt them. Some decide it’s kinder to let people sleep. No one is certain. No one is clean.
This isn’t a violent universe. It’s a low-energy one. A world stuck in neutral.
And it’s also not that serious.
This is a place to explore ideas. To poke at meaning. To sit with the uncomfortable question of what happens when tools outpace responsibility. It’s not a prophecy. It’s not a warning. It’s just a sandbox where those thoughts can exist without needing to be true.
That’s where the artifacts come in.
The Vigilante isn’t a weapon of war. It’s a deep breath.A moment of relief. Proof that even in a stalled world, individuals can still move, still choose, still act. It says: you’re going to be okay. You’re not broken. You’re still here.
The Redeemer isn’t about saving the world either. It’s about rebirth.A warm seat beside my brothers in blades. A reminder that nothing meaningful is done alone, and that starting over doesn’t have to be violent or loud. Sometimes it’s just quiet companionship and the decision to keep going.
Signalborn isn’t trying to scare anyone. It’s not trying to explain reality. It’s not even trying to matter.
It’s just a place where a wrong turn happened, and people slowly, imperfectly, find their way back to motion.
And if nothing else, it’s meant to feel human.
